September 1st 2011

Tuesday August 30th was the evening of the final race in the 2011 summer Handicap. At 7-00 prompt, Martin Gwillam set off under a dark overcast sky to tackle the 5.25 mile course. A further 4 members followed at varying intervals, depending on their individual handicap times. First to arrive back at the School was Martin Gwillam, followed by Craig Watters in 2nd place, and Neil Stretton in third. Fourth position went to Richard Matthews, with last years winner Richard Hands taking 5th and final place. A quick calculation by our Chairman & race organiser Rex, gave us the overall results, collated from the best 3 individual finishing times taken from the possible  4 events.

In first place we have joint winners, Richard Hands, and Clive Howseman, with Neil Stretton in 2nd, and Richard Matthews taking Bronze. Fastest time over the course went to Craig Watters.

Well done to all the winners, and thanks to all who took part in the races. A special thanks to Rex Tomlinson, for organising the handicap series, and working out the handicap times, so that everyone as a fair chance of winning.

Due to the community side of the School closing soon, the Pacers will be meeting at Walsall Wood Football club from September 20th 2011. A new handicap route will be sourced for the 2012 (olympic year) season, starting from the new venue.
